Welcome to Year 2
Welcome to the Year 2 page. The Year 2 staff are:

We are supported by Mrs Burchnall and Mrs McCullough.
Learning in Year 2
We believe that children learn better when they link their ideas and learning together across different subjects. We have overall themes each term to help them with this and most areas of the curriculum are incorporated into this main theme. Please take time to look through other tabs within this Year 2 page as we have made links to useful sites to help your child to develop their skills and understanding for our curriculum.
We appreciate the support that you as parents give us in many ways such as helping children with their homework tasks or coming into school to help. We want your child to be content in school and reach their full potential so please do not hesitate to come and see us if there is anything you wish to speak to us about.
Please enjoy exploring the links we have included to support our curriculum.

As part of our Great Fire of London project, we 'travelled back in time' to visit Samuel Pepys and asked him about his life, the fire and his opinions. We have created character profiles of him and used morpho to produce an avatar of him. We are now going to write a diary just like him.
As part of a whole school project to learn about enterprise, Year 2 have been learning about how to set up a mini business - selling second-hand books.
Children were split into teams and allocated roles and responsibilities for advertising, marketing, managing, selling and accounting. They collected unwanted, second-hand books from children across the school and then held their book sale.
It was a huge success! Not only have the children promoted reading for pleasure, they also made nearly £150 in profit. This money will pay for a special educational treat for themselves later in the year.
Well done Year 2!
Year 2 have been busy with designing and carving pumpkins ths week.
On Friday afternoon, we paraded our pumpkins in school for the younger children.
Thank you to all of the adults who helped the children with creating their designs - the standard of work was excellent again!
