Year 4 Olympics - 24.9.18

Today, Year 4 enjoyed a morning of sport by taking part in a mini olympic event.  They were welcomed by Zeus and paraded the olympic flame before comencing with 4 events - javelin, discus, long jump and sprint.  After taking part in heats there was a final where an winner was declared.  " I enjoyed myself, but was disappointed not to make it into any finals." said John

After the four athletic events, the children took part in the St John's marathon.  Luckily for them it was not a full 26 miles but two laps of our running track.  "I was absolutely exhausted" said Isobel at the finish line.

At the end of the morning the 5 winners were crowned with tradtional laural crowns.

Our current Science topic is electricity and we have enjoyed creating circuits, making our own switches and testing materials to see if they are conductors or insulators.

Romans invade St John's!

Children in year 4 as Roman soldiers

The Romans came to Spalding on Friday and gave Year 4 a fantastic insight into life over 2000 years ago in Britain.  The children were able to create moasics, oil lamps, charms to ward off evil and become Roman soldiers in the morning.

Then, after lunch, they took part in either dancing, acting or being a part of the legion before settling down for a feast of bread, cheese, fruit and 'wine'.

Term 4 - Gymnastics
