Mrs Dark and Mrs Whittaker would like to welcome you to the Year 4 webpage. We hope to share with you curriculum coverage and ideas, as well as a peek into Year 4 life and activities!

The Year 4 classrooms are found in the oldest part of school, and having been recently renovated they are a fantastic learning environment for the children to thrive in.

The children are supported in their learning by Mrs Haselgrove, Mrs Powell, Mrs Van der Werf and Miss Gilbert.

This term 4AW will swim on Tuesday mornings and have indoor PE on a Wednesday.  4CD have outdoor PE on Tuesday and indoor PE on Wednesday.

Our our main topics this term are continuing with the weather and sewing in DT.

We will be continuing to use the Singapore Maths scheme 'Maths No Problem' and will be covering fraction and time word problems.  We will then move on to decimals.

In Literacy, we will be studying play scripts leading to our performance 'Reach for the Sky'.

In RE our curriculum continues to study journeys.

Homework is given out on a Friday and is due back by the next Wednesday.  In addition, it is expected that our children will read for at least 20 minutes every night and continue to work on their fluency of multiplication and division facts up to 12 x 12.

11th September - Greek Day for Year 4

Today, Year 4 were transported back in time to Ancient Greece as part of their topic this term.  The children took part in a variety of activities that included mask making, shield creating and designing their own labyrinth out of string.  As the weather was good, some groups got to use their shields in battle formation on the playground.  The final activity was a challenge that looked at Greek architecture where the children had to balance on a single plastic cup without it breaking!  A great day was had by all.

26th June 2017 - Roman Day

Today, Maximus and the XI legion invaded year 4 to bring news of the rebellion of Boudicca.  The children were quickliy recruited to join the Roman ranks, making a variety of objects and listening for news of the impending invasion.

Luckily, Boudicca was stopped in her tracks and a celebratory feast, with drama and dancing, was enjoyed by all in the afternoon.

Take a look at some of the pictures of our day in our gallery.Year 4 in their Roman dress

5th June 2017 - Visit to Spalding Grammar and High School

Today year 4 went to Secondary school.  The girls went by bus to Spalding High school to enjoy a morning of Food technology and Art and the boys walked to the Grammar to take part in Science and Computing lessons.

The girls made museli bars and then were able to participate in some free flow art to music.  It was very messy, with painting on tables, chairs and some on each other but everyone enjoyed themselves.

The boys took part in a colourful chemistry lesson with a variety of chemicals and then moved on to some computing programming.  They all loved dressing in scientific lab coats and goggles to become chemists for the morning.

A great morning was had by all!
