Athens vs Corinth vs Argos vs Sparta in the  Ancient  Greece mini Olympics.

In the morning , on Friday 6th October 2017, Year 4 experienced what it would have been like in Ancient Greek times with a mini olympic event.  It was held on the school field.

The competitors arrived in the hall to meet king of the Gods, Zeus, played by Mr McCarthy, a school volunteer.

“All of the competitors behaved perfectly,” commented Mr McCarthy.

They participated in 5 events, including the armour run and the javelin.

Klaudia exclaimed,“My favourite event was the javelin because I won!”

Connor in 4AW defeated his opponents by winning the marathon, running race and the shield race.

It was a fantastic experience for the children to learn more about Ancient Greece.

Their Headteacher, Mr Reid, said  ”I am pleased that the Year 4 Olympics day went well, it is always really good when children can learn in a practical way. ”
